More GREENING at Golden Dreams….
*** WE COMPOST all fruit and vegetable peelings etc. year round. To distract local bears in our compost, we sprinkle the ashes from our two wood-burning fireplaces.
*** WE RECYCLE most container products. From paper and cardboard to tin cans and glass to most plastics.
*** WE RETURN all refundable pop, beer and wine bottles to the local bottle depot.
*** WE REDUCE as much as we can. It is our responsibility to reduce our total environmental impact, whether it is riding our bikes to do our banking in the village, or organizing a car pool to get our kids to dance lessons.
*** WE LINE-DRY SHEETS! In the summer months, sheets are hung outside for that fresh mountain air advantage. Duvets, featherbeds and pillows are also regularly aired outside and naturally sanitized by the sunshine. This certainly cuts down on our dryer costs reducing our environmental footprint.
*** WE’VE PARKED ONE VEHICLE! Terry actually parks his car in the winter and uses the public WAVE bus to get to the mountain where he teaches skiing. It takes less time than to clear off the snow, scrap the ice, heat up the car to drive 1 mile to park and walk farther than the bus drops him off. Imagine that! Now that’s reducing the environmental footprint one step at a time!
It just feels right! Making small changes to our daily lifestyle and routine gives us more exercise and enjoyment, therefore, achieving an overall better feeling of well-being!
